I enjoyed reading about your Michael Jackson memories and being a fan my whole life I can certainly relate to what you said. My story is a little different though and in a way, my fascination with Michael started where you left off. I was born in 1987 in Romania (a communist country at that time), meaning that it was almost impossible to get any music from "the West". But I was lucky enough to have a father who would brought me Michael's movie, the Moonwalker from a business trip abroad. That's when I fell in love with him. In 1995 (I was 5) he came to Bucharest, with the Dangerous tour and I remember watching the concert with my mom on tv and being so mesmerized...I had never seen anything like that. I also remember seeing him on the news playing with kids in orphanages and visiting hospitals. Then, 4 years later when HIStory was released he came again to Romania. By this time I had posters all over my walls and even though I begged my mom to take me to his concert, she didn't. If you think Michael Jackson was big in America, he was 100 times more popular in Romania. Nobody seemed to care about his personal life, I honestly don't remember when he was accused of molestation simply because it wasn't all over the news. I do remember however when our president met him at the airport, when he donated a playground, when he flew that jet pack at the end of his concert or when he said "I love you Romania" during Man In the Mirror. It's really a shame he isn't as appreciated and respected in his own country, but maybe now that's he's gone, people will finally realize what they missed. Sorry about the long comment...I just never had a chance to express how I feel about Michael. Thanks. And happy holidays:)

Lets give it up for people born in 1975 whose musical taste went from Thriller to Pearl Jam.

PS I always thought Michael Jordan was MJ.

I was born in 1975, so I totally relate to what you are talking about. My first record was Thriller, and I must have listened to it until my parents ears were bleeding! It was the only MJ album I ever owned. I have a hard time separating an artists personal life from their work, and when all of the questions regarding his behavior with kids came up, I was totally turned off to him. Truthfully though, I was also too busy listening to INXS, Pearl Jam and all of the other "rock" bands to notice that MJ had anything else happening (except of course the morphing part of black and white)! He was a truly amazing artist though, and he will be missed.
